Funky Sewing Kit in a Jar
Supplies Needed: • Glass jar with a flat and ring • Fabric • Glue • Scissors • Cotton fill • Embroidery thread • Mini scissors • Zippers • Buttons • Pins • Needles Directions: This is Martha Stewart’s favorite DIY for this season. With just a little creativity and effort, an old-fashioned jam jar can become a brand new sewing kit with a built-in pin-cushion on the top. First, separate the lid's sealer and screw cap. Trace around sealer on some cardboard. Draw another circle on linen using a compass that is 2.5 cm larger in diameter than the first. Cut out both circles; make a cushion by putting cotton between fabric and cardboard. Glue the cushion to the lid piece. Now it’s time to fill the inside of the jar with sewing essentials listed above.
Chalkboard Coaster Set
Supplies Needed: • Plain 4×4” tiles • Black chalkboard paint • Paint brushes • Buttons • Felt • Chalk • Glue • Ribbon + gift tag Directions: Kids will love helping to make this one! Start by painting the tiles with at least 3 layers of chalkboard paint. Allow to dry for at least 3 hours in between coats; after the last coat, wait for about 24 hours. Then, season your little chalkboards by using the long side of the chalk to cover them entirely. Take off the dust with a dry paper towel. Now, glue tiny buttons on each corner. Cut out squares of felt the same size as the tile and then glue to the back of the tile. Stack 4 coasters and tie with a pretty ribbon, a gift tag, and a piece of chalk.
Supplies Needed: • Brown pipe cleaners • Red, white, and black cardboard • Beer bottles • Glue Directions: Wrap brown pipe cleaners around the tops of the beer bottles and twist some smaller pieces around to create antlers. Then, use craft supplies to your liking to create eyes and a red nose for the reindeer and glue into place. There you have it! Reindeer beer bottles! Get ready to knock at your neighbor’s door…
Unique Kitchen Towels
Supplies Needed: • White or beige towels • Trim fabric • Thread to match trim • Scissors and basic sewing supplies • Sewing machine • Iron • Glue Directions: An embroidered kitchen towel makes a beautiful and thoughtful handmade gift. Pin trim to the towel using a ruler and ensure each and every row is straight. Sew up the colored trim fabrics to the towel - very suitable for the holiday season. Wash, dry, and then iron the towel - and you’re done! This is a perfect gift idea to craft for your lovely mother or grandmother.
Paper Pyramid Box For Jewelry
Supplies Needed: • Scissors • Paper hole puncher • Printer • Colored paper • Ribbon Directions: Create a template or download the template from the Internet. Cut out the shape and watchfully score along the inside lines. Punch tiny holes in each triangle. Now fold all of the pieces and use a thin ribbon to tie the pieces together. No need to use tape or glue since the little box holds together perfectly. These boxes are very easy to open and close, and are wonderful for jewelry, earrings, necklaces, or itsy bitsy things.
