Batter Up!

Why not forget the minoucheh this weekend and opt for something different?! Pancakes are always a welcomed guest in a family home. Get out the basic ingredients and add you own special additions for a twisted morning meal. Let the kids get in on the fun and help you whip these babies up in no time at all. You can even freeze leftovers and pop them into the toaster as needed. Here is what you need:

  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 3 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp. baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 ¼ cup milk
  • 3 tbsp. butter or vegetable oil
  • Dash of vanilla optional

Whip up these ingredients in any manner you wish to. Lumpy batter is no big deal. Just give the mixture a good swirl and you will be good to go. Spray a non-stick pan with cooking oil or a bit of butter… and grab your ladle full of batter and pour. As soon as bubbles start to form on the surface of the pancake, you are ready to flip. Make shapes with your little one and watch the fun begin!
