If you’ve scrolled through Twitter, tapped on Instagram, or checked your Facebook feed lately, you may have seen the word “strobing” somewhere along the way. Not exclusively for the dance floor, this eye-catching phrase refers to the latest trend in beauty–highlighting taken to the next level.

Using a combination of illuminating skincare and makeup products, strobing gives you a lit-from-within glow by focusing on the areas where the light naturally hits your face. Think cheekbones, bridge of nose, tip of chin, center of forehead, cupid’s bow, and brow bone.

Since not every woman (including myself) wants maximum-wattage luminescence, here are my favorite products that span the strobing spectrum–from a natural glow to all-out radiance.

Apply Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm or Extra Repair Moisturizing Balm beneath your foundation or tinted moisturizer to instantly refresh and give skin a subtle glow. After applying your face makeup, tap Extra Soothing Balm along the cheekbones, nose, and chin. Or, use the same technique with Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm; it features light-reflective pearls that mimic the luminosity of healthy skin.

Combining the warmth of bronzer and radiance of highlighter, Brightening Brick is perfect for a glow-y day look. Just blend over the highest part of the cheekbones and lightly dust forehead, bridge of nose and chin to catch the light—and everyone else’s attention. Shimmer Brick has super fine pearl pigments that reflect light beautifully (but don’t leave you looking shiny). It’s a good go-to for nighttime and special occasions. Apply it strategically, just high on the cheekbones.

To highlight eyes, choose a light shade of shadow that complements your skin tone and apply it on the brow bones and at the inner corners of the eyes. Try Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick in a shimmery shade like Goldstone or Sunlight Gold for day. For nighttime, you can intensify the effect with a shadow that has a higher level of shimmer. I love Sparkle Eye Shadow in Silver Moon or Mica.
