Your Guide to Avoid Holiday Weight Gain

Holiday weight gain: we dread it, we avoid it, and we try to fight it! What is the key to success? Planning the season like your life depends on it and keeping festivity gatherings in check. Now get out your pen and paper and start organizing your thoughts! With a little bit of know-how, you can be the life of the party minus the thunder thighs.


  • Keep an agenda of events and food intake

Creating a special festivity calendar can organize your weight and your social life. Opt for a color coding system to note which weeks and days are full and which are not. Mark major party days with lots of food in red, and jot in a workout the following day.


  • Spread out parties and get-togethers

Aim to have no more than one event per week; this is one sure way to keep your festive season in check and your weight steady. Less socializing means less temptation with food and drinks.


  • Eat sensibly on off days

Eat healthy and low calorie meals on your free days to aid you in balancing your weight throughout the holiday season. Festivity fat can sneak up on you and nip you in the butt, so take charge!


  • Drink in moderation

Limit your alcohol intake to cut on calories. If you must have a night cap, stick to Champagne or wine which are lower in calories than other calorie ridden drinks.


  • Snack before you leave the house

Have a snack containing fiber, lean protein, and a little healthy fat to keep you feeling satisfied. This will help you to avoid the buffet table and piling up your plate.
