It’s not a shocker that many people enjoy a good love making session when it’s hot and summery outside. Blame it on the magical sea breeze, the smell of sensual coconut oil, the lack of clothing… whatever the reason may be, summer is simply downright SEXY!
According to a survey conducted by Lovehoney, an online sex toy retailer, July is the ULTIMATE month for sex… followed by second place winner, the month of August.
Data gathered from 2,000 participants revealed that 24% of people were having the highest rates of sex in the month of July, with August at 22%, and June at 18%.
According to psychiatrist and instructor at Harvard Medical School, Ashwini Nadkarni, people might be highly in the mood in the summertime because of all the glorious sunshine. The sun’s rays make most people feel joyful… making sexy bits feel happy and tingly too!
"Sunlight has been shown to have an association with serotonin, a key neurotransmitter in the ability to experience pleasure," explained Ashwini Nadkarni to Glamour. Yep, sunlight seems to be the new aphrodisiac!
Let’s also not forget the fact that a bronzed body is ‘oh-so’ sexy as it glistens in the sunshine, a sure turn on for the horny at heart. Add to that a fun night out on the beach sipping Sangria all night long and chances are you are going to be dancing in the moonlight like a sexy monkey right up till dawn.
Another bonus is the fact that vitamin D levels may increase as well during the hot summer months… this means fewer headaches, more energy, and better sleep cycles for many. Long story short? It’s all good.
